Kris Maloy and Jolie Beth Boudreaux are the cofounders of Q. They met in 1996 and became fast friends through watching Star Trek: The Next Generation (although they are not so infatuated with the show as to name a business after one of the characters–that was entirely coincidental) and playing games (board, card, video, and occasionally mini golf) together. They are always up for a game with friends.
Partners in business and in life, Kris and Jolie Beth married in 2005 and became a family of three in 2007 with the arrival of their daughter, Karoline. They continue to seek out adventure and new challenges, which included a move from Oklahoma City to Colorado. Their friends and family are very supportive (although probably think they are a little “off”).
Both have backgrounds in the creative arts and learning theory. Jolie Beth holds Bachelor’s degrees in theater and music theater and a Master’s Degree in Psychology. A gifted visual artist, she also has a background in painting and artistic design. Jolie Beth is a licensed psychotherapist with a practice in Fort Collins. Kris holds a doctoral degree in music, and is a composer, arranger, and professor of music with a studio of college students and his own private studio of young musicians. He has devoted much of his study to the mental processes of understanding music as it relates to heuristics, the process of exploratory problem solving.
Together, Kris and Jolie Beth combine their talents to create the immersive environments of the Q Experiences and the unique puzzles and challenges that await players. After finishing their day jobs and spending a little time together as a family, they have been spending evenings and weekends designing escape puzzles, creating the escape environments and writing liability waivers (for more information and your own liability waiver to sign, please schedule an experience on our booking page!) Kris and Jolie Beth wish that they could create a new Experience each month, then erase their memories so they could try out their own creations and see how well they would do!
In 2014, they discovered escape rooms, and were hooked. Believing they could create an even greater escape room experience than those they have done themselves , they decided to bring their vision of an immersive Live Escape Experience to their new home in northern Colorado.
